Branding and Microchipping

Chatswood Stud is equipped to provide every service for your foal from conception through to its two year old year, including registration with the Australian Studbook. Chatswood Stud will organise the branding and microchipping of all foals and arrange for the Foal Identification Cards to be issued and forwarded to the owner.

Once the brands are legible the foal needs to be microchipped and DNA tested by an approved Veterinarian in accordance with the Australian Studbook requirements. The hair samples for DNA testing are sent to the Australian Equine Genetics Research Centre in Queensland for verification and the brand details and chip numbers are recorded by the Studbook and a foal card is then issued. This process occurs during the first three months of the year and is done during the education and weaning process.
