The Stallion box at Chatswood Stud that once housed the Golden Slipper winner and Champion Sire, Flying Spur, is now home to his best value Group winning son, Primus.

Primus is a descendent of famed Stud Book Matriarch Denise’s Joy, family of Joie Denise, Tuesday Joy, Sunday Joy and More Joyous.

Primus’ victories included the Listed Ming Dynasty, the Listed Show County Quality and the Group 3 Tramway Quality. He ran an unlucky third in the Group 1 Caulfield Guineas, the Group 1 Canterbury Guineas and the Group 1 Rosehill Guineas.

“There’s justification to say that he should have easily won three Group 1’s… He was a very talented horse that never reached his full potential in terms of his racing record”
Trainer John O’Shea

In four years standing at stud he has covered 508 mares and we are now ready to see the rewards. Primus’ two year olds have just hit the track and his first winner scored by a widening five lengths.
