Reward For Effort only competed in black type events during his short racing career. He started in style, making it one from one with a victory in the 1000m Blue Diamond Preview.

Less than a month later, Reward For Effort conquered Victoria’s richest two year old race, The Blue Diamond Stakes. This win was more impressive considering he defeated subsequent four-time Group 1 Winner Starspangledbanner and the previously unbeaten and later Group 1 Winner, Rostova.

He then commenced his three year old career by leading all the way to take out the Listed Sir John Monash Stakes. Backing up from this win, Reward For Effort travelled to Sydney to win the Group 3 Concord Stakes at Rosehill in blistering fashion.

The Blue Diamond Stakes has proven to be an amazing Stallion producer, with Champion Sire Redoute’s Choice and Black Caviar’s Sire, Bel Esprit, being among notable recipients.
